Call for Proposals — Lobular Carcinoma

Breast Cancer Canada is now accepting applications for the 2026 Research Grant Competition, awarding a total of $250,000 CAD to accelerate precision oncology in Lobular Carcinoma breast cancer. This national grant program is designed to fuel innovation in precision diagnostics and targeted treatment driven by Canadian research teams who are shaping the future of breast cancer care.

This competitive grant program supports Canadian-led research projects with a strong focus on precision oncology, AI-driven innovation, and patient partnership. Projects must be grounded in science, data, and lived experience, with active engagement from a breast cancer patient advocate—ideally someone diagnosed with Lobular Carcinoma.

Two grant tiers are available. Applicants may select their Core Focus Area and Budget Category:

Diverse and Substantial Funding Opportunities

Researchers have access to a variety of funding programs, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 grants for screening, detection, targeted treatment, and precision diagnostics, with amounts ranging from $50,000 to $75,000 CAD. Additionally, BCC offers specialized grants such as the $1 million Canadian Breast Cancer Cl inical Scienti st Fellows h ip P rog ram and collaborative grants with industry partners like AstraZeneca Canada.

Emphasis on Patient-Centric Research

BCC mandates the inclusion of breast cancer patient advocates or local advocacy groups in funded research projects. This requirement ensures that research remains patient-focused, integrating real-world experiences and perspectives to enhance the relevance and impact of scientific findings.

Proven Track Record of Catalyzing Further Funding

BCC’s seed funding programs, such as the Breast Cancer Canada Translational Research Unit Scholarships Program, have a history of enabling researchers to secure additional funding from government or industry sources. Recipients often leverage initial BCC grants into significantly larger investments, amplifying the reach and potential impact of their research.
