For many women, a breast cancer diagnosis changes everything. It can bring uncertainty, difficult decisions, and emotions that are hard to put into words.
Montreal vocalist Karen Myatt is using music to help tell those stories.
In collaboration with Breast Cancer Canada, Karen is creating a music video for her upcoming single, When We Were Beautiful.
The video will feature women from across Canada who have experienced or are currently experiencing breast cancer, sharing simple, authentic selfie videos that capture the many emotions of their journeys.
The result will be a deeply personal reflection of what breast cancer can mean – and a reminder that behind every diagnosis is a person, a story and a life that continues to unfold.
When breast cancer becomes personal
For Karen, this project is deeply personal. “My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at a very young age, and we are seeing more young women being diagnosed with the disease each year across the country.”
Inspired by the stories of strength and support, Karen felt compelled to use her voice to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
When We Were Beautiful is more than a song. It is a tribute to Karen’s friend, to the women who have experienced breast cancer, and to everyone whose life has been changed by a diagnosis.
