BCSC is delighted to announce the new breast cancer research scholarships/fellowships at Western University for 2021-22. As part of our commitment to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada Translational Breast Cancer Research Unit at the London Health Sciences Centre Canada, we are proud to support the next generation of researchers. Congratulations to New Breast Cancer Research Scholarship/Fellowship Awardees in London

I am delighted to announce 9 new graduate student and postdoctoral scholarships/ fellowships at Western University for the 2021-2022 academic year. These awards are supported by the Breast Cancer Society of Canada’s very generous commitment to the Translational Breast Cancer Research Unit at London Health Sciences Centre’s London Regional Cancer Program.

Trainees compete annually for these awards. Their applications are assessed by a scientific review committee based on the quality and translational potential of their project, their academic record, and the strength of their mentor/training environment. Three MSc students, four PhD students, one postdoctoral fellow, and one clinical fellow were selected for awards this year. These trainees are enrolled in five different academic departments/programs at Western including Oncology, Anatomy & Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Biophysics, and Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. The trainees are working in research laboratories located at the London Health Sciences Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Care, Robarts, and Western.

Their translational research projects are broadly focused on the understanding, prevention, tracking and/or treatment of metastatic breast cancer, the deadliest aspect of breast cancer. Photos of these trainees and descriptions of their projects can be found on the Translational Research Unit’s website.

Over the coming year, we encourage you to support the Translational Breast Cancer Traineeship Program through Breast Cancer Society of Canada community events including Dress for the Cause and the Mother’s Day Walk.
